Automate invoices for Stripe Multibanco payments
Multibanco is familiar to Portuguese customers, but it is asynchronous: the customer receives entity and reference details, pays outside checkout, and the invoice should only be issued when Stripe confirms payment.

What is Stripe Multibanco invoicing?
Stripe Multibanco invoicing is the flow where a paid and confirmed Multibanco reference in Stripe automatically creates a Portuguese invoice in TOConline or InvoiceXpress. The invoice should be issued after funds are confirmed, not when the reference is created.

-
Wait for funds confirmation

Frequently asked questions
When should I issue the invoice for a Multibanco payment on Stripe?
After Stripe confirms the reference payment succeeded, not when the reference is generated.
Does Stripe Multibanco support subscriptions?
No. Use this flow for one-time payments and another method for recurring billing.
What happens if the customer does not pay the reference?
Automation does not create a final invoice. The payment remains unconfirmed and can be tracked in Stripe.
